Bridget Watson Payne

Bridget Watson Payne is a writer, artist and book editor. She is currently hard at work on a new book co-authored with the illustrator Lisa Congdon, aimed at helping creative folks with eccentric minds start and finish the projects they want to create.

Bridget is the author of eight previous books including How Time is on Your Side, How Art Can Make You Happy, The Secret Art of Being a Grown-Up, and The Wonder of Colors. She writes a popular newsletter on topics including creativity, publishing, art, freelancing, books, and the close observation of daily life.

She has worked for over twenty years in the publishing industry, helping authors and artist to make sense of their work and bring it into the world in book form.

Bridget’s original artwork has appeared in a number of art shows, most recently at Park Life gallery in San Francisco. She draws, paints, creates installations, and makes zines.

She teaches and speaks frequently at schools, conferences, and workshops.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Bridget lives in San Francisco with her family.
