Abby McDonald
Abby McDonald was born and raised in Sussex, England and studied Politics and Philosophy at Oxford University. She began writing at college, becoming music editor of the student newspaper and completing her first manuscript at nineteen. After deciding that hanging out with rock stars and reading novels all day was a far more attractive career option than following her classmates into government or investment banking, Abby graduated to writing fulltime. Since then, her work has appeared in the NME, CosmoGirl and Plan B magazines. Her website, PopText (www.poptext.org), was noted by the London Times as one of the best British music blogs, and she currently works as pop columnist and feature writer for artistDIRECT.com, musing on everything from the High School Musical branding phenomenon to feminist readings of My Humps. Her debut YA, Sophomore Switch, will be published by Candlewick Press and Walker Books in Spring 2009. You can find her in a bookstore coffee shop in London, Boston or Montreal with her PowerBook, a stack of new fiction releases and Entertainment Weekly (for research, of course). She is twenty-two years old.
