Lisa Desimini

Lisa Desimini has written and/or illustrated 35 picture books. My House was a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year. Love Letters by Arnold Adoff was named a BCCB Blue Ribbon Book and Best Book of the Year by Publisher’s Weekly and School Library Journal. Dot the Fire Dog has sold over 400,000 copies and her most recent book, The Fleatastics, features an acrobatic troupe of fleas that travel from dog to dog and put on a show.

Her art has graced the cover of over 100 books, including those for Barbara Kingsolver, Rachel Vail, John Nichols, Sharon Creech, and The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris (which were turned into HBO’s True Blood). Most recently she created the cover and six interior images for a special edition of The Man Who Fell to Earth.

She has visited schools and lectured all over the country and taught illustration at The School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Lisa and her husband, Matt Mahurin, live in Topanga with their two cats.
