Leslie
Helakoski, author of many picturebooks for children, grew up in south
Louisiana where she worked as an art director and graphic designer for
several ad agencies before turning to children's books. She holds degrees
in Advertising Design and Media Illustration from the University of
Louisiana, Lafayette and Northern Michigan University. She now lives
in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her husband and three children. She is presently
furthering the adventures of her Big Chickens, published by Dutton in
2006, with Big Chickens Fly the Coop, also to be illustrated by Henry
Cole. And then, down the road, look for Woolbur, a sheep who bleats
